Giving Everyone the “Cold Shoulder”

I always get really excited for a new year; not just because it’s a chance to start over, but because it’s time for fashion evolution. A new year means new trends.

Off the shoulder dresses and tops are this year’s key silhouette.

The cold shoulder look originated with the world’s obsession with Brigitte Bardot in the 1950s and ’60s, as her signature looks involved off-the-shoulder tops and dresses. In fact, the trend was originally dubbed The Bardot. But as style has evolved over the decades, it has come to involve more shoulder cut-outs than off-the-shoulder tops, and been renamed to reflect the current era. Wearing an off the shoulder top of dress is a great way to show some skin without showing too much. Here are some of our favorite looks.
